The authors discuss the magnitude and effect of trade in small arms in conflict over the world, using the AK-47 to make their case that small arms weapons are ubiquitous in conflict zones. Small arms continue to cause hundreds of deaths and injuries every day. The inability of governments to take seriously the damage caused by small arms and light weapons is a failure of major proportions.
