The author developed a recovery model for victims present at catastrophic school shootings based on her experiences dealing with victims at of a suburban school shooting. She described responses that address behavioral, cognitive and psychological needs of both the victims and their families. Emphasis was placed on identifying discreet stages of recovery and the appropriate actions that should be taken.
